Foods definitely have a direct connection with the way you feel and this works the other way too. Foods have a great power to cheer you up too.

Emotional food or comfort food, yes, this is just what you crave when you are feeling down in the dumps. The reason could be anything from a bad day at work, stressed out the economic recession. Soups are another treat that can really pep me up. Cold outside, relaxing with a bowl of warm soup is definitely a wonderful feeling. Soups are both healthy and tasty and do not take long to make so you can actually have it every single day and feel great. A great de-stresser and comforting way to spend your day indoors.

With such variety possible with soups you can meet both your nutritional demands and also pamper the taste buds. Add a salad or your favorite sandwich and you have a complete meal that is both light on the stomach and also full of vitamins and minerals. Making it at home with fresh vegetables and your choice of condiments can add that much needed personal touch to any soup. The whole process of making and every sip of it can make you feel refreshed and relaxed. Your family too would enjoy the benefits of your cooking and not to forget the health benefits of tasty home cooked meals.

Chocolates can be a great comfort food. For me it is an anytime mood uplifter. Chocolates seem to work magic especially with women. I still don't know of any woman who can actually resist chocolates. The time of the menstrual cycle can also make you actually crave for chocolates. Emotional food or my comfort food, yes, chocolates are definitely in for me and an anytime welcome treat. Sweet treats with chocolate also have just about the same effect. In fact, sweet yummy delicious desserts too work great as comfort foods and can make you feel up and about in no time. Is it the sugar level, is it the wonderful feeling of biting into it - don't know just what it is that makes it wonderful but it surely does.

Foods like cakes, pies and even fried dishes like fritters can be great for cheering you up. Each one to his own. It is your palate and the moods that decide your comfort foods.
