Keeps in the pantry for 3 years. Basic lentil cooking: Wash the lentils, throw the water away. Bring 3-1/2 cups water and 1 cup Chana Dal Beans to a boil in a pot. (you may want to add tomatoes, carrots, squash etc) Simmer covered for 20 minutes or until tender. Adjust water. You will need to add more water if you want lentil soup. Lentils are best cooked in a pressure cooker.
